Dave Smith's elephant for Elmer's Big Parade
2 July 2019
For 10 weeks this summer a parade of 40 fabulously colourful, unique elephants will be taking you on a trail around the beautiful city of Plymouth and surrounding areas. From the hustle and bustle of the city streets to the peace and grandeur of the Hoe, Elmer's Big Parade will navigate you around Britain's Ocean City.
Our illustrator Dave Smith is one of 40 artists who have painted an Elmer for the "Elmer's Big Parade" in Plymouth. There are 3 parades around the country, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Elmer's first publication, but the Plymouth one is a homecoming for the elephant as David McKee (author and Illustrator) was born in Tavistock and studied at Plymouth College of Art. This trail is raising funds for Plymouth's St Luke's Hospice, and starts on July 8th til Sep 16th! The designs are kept secret until the launch!
